Big Room, 1948, by Andrew Wyeth |
and without lacy nets left to drape
in front of the transparent windows, you see,
we'll be saddened if folks start to gape
and peer through the glass here to watch us all day,
or worse, to survey us by night,
when maybe an unguarded action or two
could really give someone a fright.
Bright sun through the windows will ruin the floors,
the carpets, the parquet, the rugs
and with no roaring fire alight in the grate,
we'll have to keep warm using hugs!

Very charming as always! Keep up the heat. k.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a fine way to keep warm. The nosy neighbors will just have to get their own!
ReplyDeleteHorrors to go curtainless for a few days...LOL. Hope those gapers enjoy what they see. Enjoyed this...and hugs to keep warm sound just fine to me.
ReplyDeletehey if they are going to gape....i say give em a good show...smiles....
ReplyDeleteKeeping warm using hugs... what better way to do it ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I was treated to one of your witty pieces. Much enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteThis is very enjoyable Cad. The rhythm and rhyme carry the details so eloquently. Thank you for sharing these housecleaning woes. =D

ReplyDeleteNo curtains and drapes...well, give them a reason to gape with more than hugs ~

It's all in the mind, Caddoc, all in the mind.
ReplyDeleteHugs sound like an Eco friendly heating system, Cad! Good luck with Ada...
ReplyDeletenothing better than a bright sunny hug or two or three!
ReplyDeleteI don't like curtains...I like the clean lines of bare windows...
ReplyDeleteWhat, the curtains? Hope they come back soon..I will surely be peeking till then!
ReplyDeleteLet them neighbors have their fun! It's a good excuse to go wild under the sheets and let them suffer just looking. Hilarious, Cad! More hugs and they'll suffer more, the neighbors I mean!
