Shipwreck-struts stand proud on island beach;
they act as frames to painted sea and sky
whose distant mists sheer-swirl in pre-dawn light
which promises the day will be set fair.
Beyond, a rocky outcrop adds a form
indicative of larger world far from
this haven, with its cove of solitude.
The moment serves to fill the mind with peace.

This is a detail taken from Jinksy's In Tandem painting this week. It prompted me to wax lyrical, and I thought it may be uplifting enough to count as a Poetry Jam entry for tomorrow, for although solitude won't lead to a better world, encouraging a little more peace in it would be a good thing. And now I've linked it to The Poetry Pantry as well - by golly, I'm a gad about this week!
I pray for peace in our home and countries...we need it badly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this ~
i dream of peace and hope it to become a reality that our kids can inherit one day...nice one man...
ReplyDeletePeace is always welcome and a wonderful thing. If only we had more...
ReplyDeleteThat is one very lovely and calming interpretation of Jinksy's picture.
ReplyDeletewhose distant mists sheer-swirl in pre-dawn light ... lovely!
ReplyDeleteTo find serenity in a shipwreck: a gift.
ReplyDeleteMike and Sandy - I thought my painting looked through the wreck to the serenity beyond - I think Cadddoc sussed this out in the way he cropped my original. Well spotted, Cad, and thanks for riding the Tandem.
ReplyDeleteInteresting and ironic, such peace in the wreckage. The artwork is wonderful, and I do find myself slightly unbalanced by that irony.
