Roadkill?

Road slithers beneath tyres rushing
over sunburned surface in frustration.

"Faster, ever faster!" roars a devil
inside the accelerator pedal, daring
driver to abandon common sense.

Signs and markings on the road ahead
mesmerise unwary mind; flashing
signals fail to get their message across.

This may be another journey where
the final destination's not in doubt.

  1. Definitely have some speed with this one. And I fear the destination is not good. Although your words are! If you can have me rocking back and forth, waiting for the crunch, then I think you have hit the mark with this one.

  2. All too true! Very often those who drive too fast cause accidents but escape them themselves.

  3. Yes! The title of this painting should be Twisted Tyres!

  5. "...another journey where
the final destination's not in doubt." Ironic that even if we "go slow" and follow the rules of the road on our journey, we'll all meet at the same destination...
    Always like your insights.
